Who has the right to name a new born child, the mother or the father?
It is a well known fact that Abdullah and Abdurrahman are the best names to be kept for males, what I would like to know is the best names for females?
It is the right of both parents to name the child; it is not specifically the right of one parent. Both parents should consider the desires of the other and together agree upon a name. In this matter Shariat, should not be used to create an argument.
According to my knowledge, no name has been established as the best of names for a girl. Such a name should be kept which has a good meaning, it is easy to pronounce and in it there is no indication towards Kufr or Shirk nor is there any resemblance with the disbelieves. It is correct to keep such a name which is generally used by Muslims and disbelieves.
And Allãh Ta’ãla knows best
