Question:
Allah has bestowed my wife and I daughter on the 07 may. Aqeeqa must be done on the 7 day, when will you start counting, as my daughter was born at night?
Answer
The day following the night in which your daughter was born would be considered the first day, for example, if Monday is the day after the night of the birth then Monday will be the first day and Sunday will be the Seventh day and to do it on this Sunday will be Sunaah. If Aqeeqa was not performed on the seventh day, then it could be done on any other day, however, according to the example mentioned if Aqeeqa is performed on any Sunday it will be considered the seventh day.
